Women’s Leader in Global DigiTech

Well before ‘diversity’ was the norm, few gritty women were paving the way for others in the dynamic world of global digitech. One such trailblazer is Harika Govada, Sr. Director of Integrated Channel Strategy at Resurgent Capital Services, USA.

A data analytics expert, tech innovator, and speaker, Harika sees her journey as an ongoing evolution rather than a destination. Starting as a student in small town India to becoming Sr. Director of Integrated Channel Strategy in the US, she has achieved significant milestones in bridging technical expertise with business strategy. However, her dreams extend beyond personal achievement. She remains passionate about pushing boundaries in data-driven innovation, mentoring more women in technology, and expanding her impact through thought leadership.

“What excites me most about the future is the transformative potential at the intersection of technology and business strategy, particularly in the realm of data analytics and artificial intelligence. The prospect of mentoring and inspiring more women to take leadership roles in technology and finance is particularly invigorating – diversity in thinking leads to more comprehensive solutions and innovative approaches. I’m also excited about expanding my impact through thought leadership and creating inclusive workplace cultures that foster innovation. As technology continues to evolve, I see tremendous opportunities to push boundaries in data-driven decision-making while ensuring these advancements benefit both businesses and society at large.”

Harika’s journey began in a small town in India, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management. Her drive for excellence led her to Bradley University in Illinois, USA where she earned both a Master’s degree in Computer Science & Management and the prestigious Caterpillar Master Fellowship.

Her career trajectory took shape at PRA Group, where she started as a Business Analyst Intern and evolved through various analytical roles over a decade. Her transition to Strategy Analytics marked a pivotal shift from solving immediate technical challenges to shaping long-term business strategy. Today, as Sr. Director of Integrated Channel Strategy, Harika leads transformative initiatives in legal analytics and operational strategy, while actively mentoring the next generation of leaders.

Her expertise lies in developing sophisticated frameworks that optimize legal strategies through advanced statistical analysis, enhancing economics, client experience, and shareholder value. She specializes in designing champion-challenger strategies and implementing comprehensive performance measurement systems that drive data-informed decision-making.

Expectedly, she’s had to overcome her fair share of challenges. “One of my biggest challenges has been transitioning from a purely technical role to a strategic leadership position while maintaining high standards of excellence. Learning to delegate effectively and trust in my team’s capabilities thus became crucial. Another significant challenge has been maintaining work-life balance while pursuing professional growth. These challenges have taught me the importance of intentional prioritization, building strong support networks, and creating an environment where both individual and collective growth can flourish.”

Harika has no qualms admitting that her journey wouldn’t have been possible without her spouse’s unwavering support during countless late nights and challenging projects. “I cherish quality family time, whether it’s exploring diverse cuisines or taking long drives together. My analytical mind also finds joy in board games and detective puzzles, which offer both entertainment and mental stimulation. Recently, I’ve found an exciting way to blend leisure with professional growth by participating in global GenAI datathons and hackathons. This combination of family activities and technological exploration helps me maintain a refreshing balance while nurturing both personal relationships and professional networks.”

Harika believes modern leadership requires a unique blend of technical acumen and emotional intelligence, particularly in today’s data-driven world. She lists 3 qualities to successfully navigate this dynamic industry:

  1. In today’s rapidly evolving landscape, continuous learning is paramount – embrace the intersection of different disciplines, as I did by combining technical expertise with business strategy. This adaptability allows you to spot opportunities others might miss.
  2. Second, cultivate emotional intelligence alongside technical skills. Success isn’t just about individual brilliance; it’s about building strong networks and lifting others as you climb.
  3. Finally, develop the courage to transition between different roles and perspectives. My evolution from IT to Strategy Analytics taught me that stepping out of your comfort zone, while challenging, opens doors to transformative opportunities. Remember, true innovation happens when you’re willing to bridge different worlds and perspectives while maintaining an unwavering commitment to growth.
